The Method

Create the change that strengthens authenticity, relational competencies and wellbeing - at home and in the workplace

Safe Facilitation

The primary prerequisite for change to happen in how we approach our relationships is to be able to access our vulnerabilities beyond our ego. That requires a safe space and trust in the facilitator.

It’s first and foremost my job to establish a safe space to allow access to a deeper understanding of who we are, how we engage, interact with others and how it all interplay.

A triangular approach

The approach to supporting individuals, couples, families and organizations to change is based on a fusion of inspirational frameworks and validated methodologies for human development.

My approach is anchored in systemic, psychodynamic and existential psychological theory. I approach change, and the obstacles that keep us locked in unhealthy and unproductive cycles of interaction, from the triangular intersection of bio-psycho-social aspects of human behavior.

That means drawing from the science of attachment theory, neuroscience, cultural- and social psychology and emotional, existential realities to investigate and mitigate resistance to change.

Belonging

Attachment theory is widely recognized today as the foundation for human psychological and biological development. It is in our biology to seek attachment with primary caregivers to survive and thrive.

In all of us, there is a natural striving for
development and relational attachment

It’s also widely recognized that the fear of being outcast, shamed or isolated from the group is detrimental and that a fundamental prerequisite for psychological safety both privately and in work situations is a felt sense of belonging, and inclusivity of diverse mindsets and abilities.

In working with both private clients in the realm of therapy and teams and leaders in organizations attachment theory is fundamental for explaining resistance to change, stress, anxiety, depression and overall poor mental wellbeing.

To foster wellbeing and safe relations we must therefore explore and understand both individual personality traits linked to attachment as well as experience of belonging and connectedness.

Emotional Intelligence & Agility

Working with organizational and human change based on a psychodynamic, emotional, and experiential framework involves integrating various psychological principles and methodologies to facilitate transformative change at both individual and organizational levels. I’m specifically trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy as well as High Conflict Relations which brings about a holistic approach to behavioral change.

The psychodynamic approach focuses on understanding how past experiences, unconscious thoughts, and interpersonal dynamics influence present behaviors and organizational culture. It involves exploring underlying motivations, conflicts, and patterns to bring about awareness and change.

Emotions play a crucial role in shaping individual behaviors, decision-making processes, and group dynamics within private relationships and in teams and organizations. By recognizing and addressing emotions effectively, individuals and teams can navigate challenges, build resilience, and foster healthier relationships. That requires both emotional agility and intelligence. This aspect of my approach involves delving into uncharted territories, uncovering the intricacies of self-awareness and interpersonal dynamics.

It facilitates a comprehensive examination of both micro and macro dynamics within individuals, teams, and organizational structures. Through in depth understanding emotions can be viewed as valuable information and used intelligently to foster psychological safety and growth.

Experiential Learning emphasizes learning through hands-on experiences, reflection, and interaction. It involves creating opportunities for individuals and teams to engage in real-life scenarios, simulations, and group activities to deepen understanding, practice new skills, and facilitate personal and professional growth.

Overall, working with organizational and human change based on a psychodynamic, emotional, and experiential framework involves a holistic approach that considers the interconnectedness of psychological factors, emotions, and experiential learning in driving meaningful and sustainable change within individuals and organizations.

Systemic-Contextual Approach: Integrating Personality and Culture

This aspect of the approach focuses on understanding personality within the broader context of culture. Working to enhance individual and corporate cross-cultural agility is rooted in systemic theory. This theory underscores the importance of socialization, culture, and interpersonal exchanges in shaping our identities and facilitating growth and development.

Working with both organizations and individuals I sometimes include the personality tool Insights Discovery © in collaboration with a licensed partner. This can serve as a supportive tool to discover more depth into what creates stagnation or resistance to change.

Hero’s Journey as an inspirational framework to evoke and empower authenticity

In my work, I draw upon the timeless wisdom of the Hero's Journey, a framework conceptualized by Joseph Campbell, the father of this narrative structure. Inspired by Carl Jung, Campbell's Hero's Journey provides a profound and universal roadmap for navigating transformative change in individuals, couples, families, and organizations.

Through my extensive background in cross-cultural work, expat life, and personal growth, I integrate the principles of the Hero's Journey into my practice. This framework mirrors the intricate dynamics of life's challenges, embodying the essence of separation, initiation, and return.

The Hero's Journey serves as a powerful storytelling framework that resonates across diverse contexts and cultures. It reflects the call to adventure, akin to the challenges encountered in cross-cultural transitions or personal transformations. It symbolizes deep, transformative experiences and growth, fostering the journey towards unlocking the hero within.

Finally, the integration of newfound wisdom into daily life, aligning with my commitment to guide individuals and organizations through their unique quests, signifies the return stage.

By embracing the Hero's Journey, I aim to inspire and guide others in navigating their own paths, fostering resilience, and unlocking the hero within to create meaningful and lasting change.
